Entertainment Unlimited: Boating, Kids Play, Kite Flying And A Flea Market For All!
The venue for the GPL was the scenic campus of the Sahyadri College for Engineering and Management. Dakshina Kannada’s lifeline and majesty the river Nethravathi flows adjacent to its magnificent grounds. And while cricket was being played and watched, those who fancied a better view, a scenic view, had the option to take a boat ride along the river – there was the banana boat ride, the bumpy boat ride, the Jet Ski ride and a speed boat ride on offer – all for free…
But that was not all the entertainment that was on offer. Even as some of the men and women were playing cricket and others were watching or eating or sometimes doing both simultaneously, kids could be left to themselves to play to their heart’s content in the kid zone, where special activities were conducted by Anjana Kamath of Hakuna Matata, and for those whose ambition was sky high, they could go fly a kite! Literally. There was an on-going kite festival too.
For the fitness conscious, there were Zumba Classes, thoughtfully arranged so they could work out all the extra calories gained at the GPL itself from the sumptuous spread at the GPL!
All these additional activities were introduced at the GPL for the first time. And as soon as the guests soon found truth in the maxim “nothing ventured, nothing gained” and there was a beeline for these exciting activities.
In addition there was a flea market. A unique concept introduced for the first time, the GPL GSB Mela was a unique B2C shopping festival, during the GSB Premier League at Sahyadri Cricket Stadium. It brought entrepreneurs and artisans in the field of craft, fashion, art, food, entertainment, automobiles, jewellery, start-ups, home-made items, handicrafts together for the benefit of the visitors’ to the GPL. The GSB Mela initiative was led by Sujir Balakrishna and team.
In addition, there were live performances, and great entertainment, while people played, shopped and feasted.
